DIGITAL HEALTH AND AI USE IN HEALTH CARE FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE- A REVIEW

This review explores theintersection of digital health (DH), artificial intelligence (AI), anduniversal health coverage (UHC), and examines their roles, challenges, andcontributions to global health equity. DH initiatives, driven by informationand communication technologies (ICT), offer unprecedented opportunities toadvance UHC goals by transforming healthcare delivery and improving access, efficiency, and quality of care. AI-driven solutions, including diseasedetection, diagnostics, process optimization, and patient-facing applications, revolutionize healthcare delivery and enhance clinical decision-making andpatient outcomes.

This review highlightsIndia's leadership in leveraging AI for healthcare, exemplified by initiativessuch as Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) and the National Health Stack, over other developing countries. India's strategic focus on DH, underscored bythe National Digital Health Blueprint and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, demonstrates a commitment to harness technology to bridge healthcare gaps andimprove health outcomes nationwide. Despite challenges, such as data privacyand algorithm bias, India's proactive approach to responsible AI implementationpositions it as a frontrunner in the global DH landscape.

Overall, the integrationof AI into DH initiatives represents a significant step towards achieving UHCglobally. Collaborative efforts between governments, private sector entities, academia, and civil society organizations are crucial for driving the adoptionand scaling of DH solutions and fostering an ecosystem of innovation andsustainability. By harnessing the power of digital innovation, countries canaccelerate progress towards achieving UHC and improving health outcomes forpopulations worldwide.
